Christmas IN Las Vegas
I thought I would do a FULL round-up of Las Vegas since I was there in December. It honestly was one of my favorite places I've ever traveled to! We planned our trip with an open schedule because we knew there would be so much to see just walking around. Colton and I went with my parents and my sister and her husband. My parents had gone there before, but it was mine and Colton's first time. I am going to answer a few questions you might have about the trip and go into as much detail as I can.
When did I go/how long was I there?
We left Austin-Bergstrom airport on December 12th (my birthday π) and returned to Austin on December 17th. So, we were there for a total of five full days and five nights.
What was the weather like in December?
The weather in Las Vegas was absolutely amazing; it stayed in the cool 70s during the day; it did not get hot whatsoever and not too cold either until the sun went down!
What kind of activities did we do?
We mostly walked and did a ton of sightseeing. Honestly, that in itself was so much fun because it's so beautiful and different. We did see a magic show one night, which was fun and then another night; we rode on the High Roller at night, and oh em gee seeing Las Vegas lit up like that was breathtaking! One night we visited the iconic Las Vegas sign- it was so crowded, and the sun did set fast, so I didn't get great pictures π , so I would suggest going as early as possible to beat the crowds, definitely donβt go at night.
The boys took a fishing trip on Lake Mead, and caught a ton of fish- they said they had a great time. As for us girls, if we weren't walking around sight-seeing, we were shopping. There are so many malls just on the strip alone, my favorite was the Miracle Mile Mall- they had a Morphe store. It was my first time in a Morphe store (small town problems), so I loved going in there. We also ubered to the Fashion Show Mall, and it was nice; they had regular stores like H&M and Forever 21. Although, if you're looking for some high-end retail I would suggest going to Caesars Palace, wow, that place was amazing they had a ton of high-end designer stores like Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Balenciaga, etc. There was also a high-end mall under the Bellagio, which was really cool.
Food recommendations?
The food in Las Vegas is amazing! I would definitely recommend eating at one of the Gordon Ramsey sit down restaurants but definitely make reservations in advance. Colton and I ate at his Fish and Chips restaurant for lunch one afternoon and loved it! We also ate at the PRIME Steakhouse at the Bellagio and loved it- request a window seat at night, that way, you can watch the fountain show, its so magical. Colton and I do not LOVE fancy restaurants (I would rather eat chicken fingers π), but we figured since we were in Las Vegas and it was our birthdays, why not! We also tried a buffet at the Paris hotel and liked it okay, but I wouldn't recommend that. For breakfast, I would suggest going to Eggslut at The Cosmopolitan definitely go before 10:00 am. or else you'll be in line for an hour. The Bellagio also had a ton of amazing restaurants, so any of those that you chose from you won't be disappointed. If your looking for Mexican food I would suggest Nacho Daddy - its right off the strip and you can walk to it.
FREE things to do in Las Vegas?
Here are five free things to do in Las Vegas.
Fountains of Bellagio
The fountain show in-front of the Bellagio was really beautiful to see. Since we went in December the water danced to a ton of Christmas songs however they did play a few other genres of music. The fountains go off all day and night just make sure to look at times on the website.
The Volcano
The Volcano show is in-front of The Mirage. Make sure to look at show times and arrive a little early. Itβs best to go at night when its cold, that way it warms you up.
Flamingo Wildlife Habitat
At the Flamingo Hotel they have real flamingos walking around. You can feed them and take pictures- do this during the day!
The Aquarium at the Silverton Hotel
The Silverton Hotel has a 117,000-gallon reef aquarium filled with fish and sharks. They also have interactive feeding shows and mermaid swims- be sure to look at the website for times.
Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas Sign
We Ubered there and back, make sure to go early in the morning to beat the crowds and get good lighting. You can bring tripods or selfie sticks or you can ask someone to take your picture. We went at sunset and waiting in line for 50 minutes so by the time we got up there it was super dark. π’ I told Colton we would try again next year!
